FAQs

WHAT ARE “ARCHIVED INDEXES”?
On the right hand navigation bar of the blog is a category of links called “Archived Indexes.” In order to make navigating the blog easier, all blog posts are indexed onto one post. So there is a “Blog Index” for every book read, on which is linked every chapter summary posted. This is both for people to refer to on the current book being read (since chapter summaries may be hard to find between so many other blog posts concerning sermons, articles, etc.) to easily get to specific chapters, and also for the future if people want to read previous discussions.

WHY ARE THERE MANY STUDIES GOING ON SIMULTANEOUSLY
There are two studies going on because we do not want to just cover one specific topic for a long period of time when there are so many other Biblical truths to explore, discover, and apply. We find it fruitful to narrow our focus on a specific topic for a season and truly study it in-depth, but we also do not want to neglect other teachings of Scripture. Thus we hope to have a diet of both a “main course” and “side dishes.” Thus, there is both an in-depth study of a Biblical teaching and also a taste of several other Biblical truths that can also be discussed.

WHY DO SERMON AND ARTICLE SUMMARIES NOT THOROUGHLY COVER ALL THE MATERIAL?
In summarizing sermons/seminars/lectures and articles, we won’t be as thorough as when we summarize book chapters. We thoroughly summarize the book chapters because not everyone has the book, has the time to read the book, or has the money to afford it. But the sermons/articles are offered free online and are usually not too long.

At the end of each sermon we put up two links, one link to the online audio so you can listen online, and the second link is a link to where you can actually download the talk. The second link will allow you to upload it onto your mp3 player and listen to it while you walk or travel (this is the main way in which I listen to most talks/sermons/etc). And hopefully this will also encourage people to listen/download other free resources on the internet of conferences, lectures, and sermons. Refer to “About” to see a list of churches, conferences and ministries that offer free online audio resources that we subscribe to.

So do not rely too heavily on the summaries. They really are simply a way for people to organize the ideas presented in the audio/articles. So people who do not have time or do not feel inclined to read/listen can of course still (and are encouraged to) discuss and comment. But people are more encouraged to read/listen and use the summary as a way to follow the structure of the talk and also to recall the main points made. So basically, the hope is that the summary will not be used in the same way as the book summaries.
